What are the basics of being Pristine?
In a nutshell, by using Pristine varieties and technologies to exploit and improve pastures and to boost production across your whole rotation, you can turbocharge the profitability of your entire enterprise.
How do I know it will work for me?
Imagine for a moment that for some technical reason, crops couldn't be sown and you had to rely on regeneration from what the header missed, what fell on the ground, survived drought, grazing animals, false breaks and so on. Imagine the difference to your production and profitability if someone created varieties and technologies that meant you could sow your crops.
That is precisely what Pristine has done for pastures. We have created varieties and technologies so that high performance pastures and forages can be sown as and when needed. That means huge potential to boost production and profit, and the responses are likely to be no less dramatic than if you were able to sow crops for the first time. And it is not just more profit from the pasture itself. Good pastures have massive flow-on benefits for crops (higher yield, better quality, free N, lower costs) all of which boost crop profit as well; while actually reducing inputs of time and money. How do I become involved?
The first step is to identify and order the Pristine variety that best suits your environment. At the time of purchase, your seed supplier will provide you with a membership application form for the Pristine Client Group. Once your membership is approved, you will be automatically licensed to produce seed of Pristine varieties on your farm for your own use. It will also entitle you to finger-tip access to a member website which contains the cutting edge ideas and information on the technologies that are the keys to unlocking the future. In that way you can start turning your pastures into the driving force profit generators of your enterprise from day one.
What does membership and licensing cost?
In the year that you first purchase a Pristine variety, absolutely nothing. We want to do everything we can to help make that first year stand an outstanding success so that you can build from there. For subsequent years, our licence fees are set at the equivalent of just a few cents of the additional dollars that we expect will be generated by you through our varieties and technologies. Also, instead of a flat amount, we have introduced a unique formula to link fees with seasonal rainfall to specifically take account of the type of year you are experiencing. This reflects the Pristine philosophy as expressed in the motto; "Partnership in building farm profits".
The formula for calculating our current annual licence fee is;
(Area of Pristine varieties on your property in ha) x (Rainfall for the year in mm) x ($0.02).
For example, if your rainfall for the year is 350mm, then the licence fee is (350 x $0.02) or $7.00 per hectare of variety use.
How is it charged?
The license fee is charged annually in two instalments based on a verifiable self-assessment of the area of Pristine pastures and forages on your property for the particular year. The first instalment is a flat fee of $3.00/ha (+GST) payable on lodgement of the self-assessment form in August of the year. The second instalment is payable in February of the following year, being the balance of the fee according to the formula and the actual rainfall on your property over the year.
What other benefits do members enjoy?
Pristine is aiming to do more than just supply the latest information, ideas and varieties to you. With your inputs, feedback and fees, we aim to build our website into a must-visit first stop destination. That could be for discussing specific technical ideas and problems with fellow farmers and Pristine on-line, or to get timely tips, or to make contacts for trading, buying and selling. It could be to access models that can predict detailed outcomes from various crop and pasture options based on our SIFT (Strategic Integrated Farming Technologies) systems or to search for offers and discounts on major services and supplies. It could mean using our predictive capacities to open a window on the future, or to search and access information, services and support from other websites. In short, we aim to make our exclusive members website a one stop supplier for what you want and need to make your business even more profitable in the future.
Is being Pristine good for permanent pastures as well?
Yes. Firstly, we have bred Siriver Mk II lucerne for outstanding dryland establishment and production to give a strong perennial legume base that is ideal for many long-term pastures. Secondly, many if not most perennial pastures in regions where lucerne is not suited will respond strongly to a better annual legume component, and the Pristine balansa clovers Taipan and Viper fit this bill very well indeed. Their capacity to produce tonnes of quality feed in spring that can be either conserved or used as a high value dry feed over summer is also fast setting new production standards. By producing your own Pristine seed under licence, you can for example renovate and improve your pastures at minimal cost by over-sowing that vital legume component, or produce a fast growing, high quality forage; these and many other choices are yours. Even if you don’t need the seed production license, as a Pristine Client Group member you will still be able to access the members’ website for all the technical support, tips, discounts and on-line networking options available on our site; benefits to help you to be a winner.
